About @thatsferntastic (the person)

Hi there, I'm Fern! A fabric hoarder, a mum of seven and the face behind @thatsferntastic. After growing up in the UK, I took a gap year to travel to Australia and couldn't bring myself to leave.

Despite being raised surrounded by bolts of fabric, living in the converted workshop that my mum created bespoke wedding dresses from, I wasn't bitten by the sewing bug until I was pregnant with my eldest in 2006. Rather than an urge to clean, my nesting took on the form of wanting to make anything and everything for my new arrival, I threw myself into learning everything I could to make him quilts, clothes and toys, and ever since then, a day when I'm not making is a day wasted.

That little baby is now well into his teens, and has three more siblings, plus some bonus step-siblings! The nine of us live in a chaotic little house with our dog, and two stripey cats. When I'm not making I enjoy watching movies, listening to podcasts and eating cheese.

@thatsferntastic is an online store based on the Mid North Coast of NSW Australia, offering a wide range of hand-picked stationery and gifts, along with handmade accessories, all curated with the goal of bringing some sunshine into your everyday life.

Originally beginning on Etsy with handmade pouches, planner bags and pencil cases, after a little more than a year, I realised that the business needed a little more than Etsy could offer.

After a lot of planning, a few false starts and countless late nights, this little website was thrown out into the big wide world. Now, rather than only focusing on what I make, I can now support other artists and makers by stocking their work and helping their businesses grow.

At its core @thatsferntastic remains an extension of me and everything I love.
